Perhaps you’re an Instagram influencer and want to share content on your social media, but don’t have the time or resources. Or maybe you find yourself facing writer’s block too many times?
The good news is there are now AI-powered softwares like Cortex enable users to generate new pieces of content at the click of a button –didn’t we say AI could be better than copywriters, in some ways?
But how well does this tool work? Is it the right one for your business? Keep on reading our full TextCortex review to find out!
What is TextCortex?
TextCortex is an AI-powered writing assistant that promises to write new pieces of content for you, at the click of a button. It uses natural language processing as well as GPT-3 technology to generate content that sounds just like a human wrote it.
TextCortex is a web-based program, which means you can use it from any device that has an internet connection and a browser. There’s no installation necessary, so you can start using it right away.
How does TextCortex work?
In order to get started with TextCortex, all you have to do is sign up for their free trial (which won’t ask for your credit card information, don’t worry).
You will then be taken to the nice interface shown below. You can see the number of words you generated using TextCortex, as well as an estimate of the money you apparently saved thanks to the program.
On the left of your screen, you have access to all the templates available on TextCortex. There’s also a tab that leads you to a page where you can order content from their editorial team –if you really don’t want to do any of the work yourself.
Let’s try one of the templates on the left. We’ll go for the ad copy generator and see how it goes from here.
All you need to do is give the AI some input about what you want to write: describe your product and your target audience. You can also choose the output length, as well as the creativity rate. It’s set to 65% by default so we’ll keep it that way.
Note that you can also choose the input language. It says on the official TextCortex homepage that there are 72 languages available, but the drop-drop menu only gives 26 options. Maybe the auto language detection works for all the others –but we’re not entirely sure how to test that properly.
Now all you have to do is select the type of copy you want for your ad (we’ll go for primary ad text) and hit generate!
Alright, we’ve got to say, we’re a little disappointed. First of all, the AI only generated one output, and it cost 1 credit from the 10 we got for free on the trial.
Second, creativity-wise, let’s say we’ve seen better. Maybe that’s the issue? So we’ll try again with the creativity setting set at 100%.
So, no, that wasn’t it.
The real shame here is that the AI only generates one output at a time on this free trial. Artificial intelligence is not always perfect, and unhelpful copy can happen. But at least, with a few different outputs, you can always pick and mix and get your creativity flowing.
Besides, GPT-3 technology is based on resources that crawled the web up to 2019. Although other AI-powered platforms are still able to produce usable content for more recent niches (our Jarvis niche test showed that), maybe asking it to write copy about AI tools wasn’t the easiest choice.
Alright then TextCortex, last try! Let’s use the blog post generator and generate an article about an easier topic: tourism.
“Want to visit Brussels? Go to Brugge!” –TextCortex
We’re sorry TextCortex, but that really wasn’t what we asked. And now we ran out of free credits.
What are the features of TextCortex?
TextCortex comes with 9 templates available. You can use it to generate the following types of copy:
- Product descriptions
- Instagram captions
- YouTube descriptions
- Facebook/Instagram ads
- Blog article
- Blog title
- Email body
- Email title
- Autocomplete sentences
As mentioned earlier, you can also request content from human copywriters from the TextCortex interface –which goes a bit against the idea of having an AI-powered tool working for you, if you ask us, but that’s another story.
How much does TextCortex cost?
The basic plan on TextCortext starts at $19 a month. This plan only allows you to generate 50 runs (meaning 50 outputs) a day. Sometimes, the AI should generate more than one output at a time, but it doesn’t seem to happen that often.
The advanced plan starts at $49 a month and comes with unlimited content generation. You can also contact the team for larger businesses plans.
Is there a free trial for TextCortex?
Yes, you can try TextCortex for free for 5 days. You get 10 free credits and get access to all the templates available on the platform. Keep in mind those credits run low pretty quickly though.
TextCortex pros and cons
Let’s now review and summarize some of the pros and cons we found when using TextCortex.
- Nice easy-to-use interface.
- Instant support from the TextCortex team.
- You can choose the type of content you want to generate (product description, email titles etc.).
- The quality of the generated content did not live up to our expectations. We understand that AI can be capricious sometimes, but there was no generated copy we could use.
- Creativity setting doesn’t make too much difference.
- Only one output is generated at a time and the free trial comes with very limited credits.
- Can be pricey (depending on your needs, the basic plan might not be sufficient).

Final thoughts: should you buy TextCortex?
TextCortex is a new AI-powered writing assistant that promises to make it easy for business owners and marketers to generate content with just the click of a button.
However in our review, we found that its quality was not up to par in comparison to other tools on the market.
The only thing going for this platform is its easy interface and instant customer support team; everything else about it felt like an expensive chore.
There are many alternatives available –some might be more cost-effective than others– so if you’re looking for something different, check out our ultimate AI writing tools before making your decision!
