We’ll now go into an easy step-by-step guide to show you how to use the long-form assistant and produce beautiful content fast.

Writing the perfect blog post fast with Jasper.ai: step-by-step guide

First of all, you should know that if you want to make the most of what Jasper has to offer, it would be best to have access to its Pro features.

If you only have a regular account, you will not have access to the long-form assistant feature; however the tips we’ll provide here will still be useful to you, as there are many amazing templates you can still use. (Also, don’t forget that the free trial will allow you to try it for yourself!)

Step #0: choose a blog topic

That goes without saying, but the long-form assistant will only be useful if you already know what you want your article to talk about. If you need inspiration for your topic, Jasper can generate infinite ideas for you with the Blog Post Topic Ideas feature (is there anything he can’t do?).

Blog post ideas with Jarvis

For this demonstration, we’ll choose to write a blog post about self-improvement. Let’s say it’s going to be called:

How To Improve Self-Esteem Easily

It’s good to know that Jasper is better at writing for some niche topics than others. If you want to know which ones, or see whether Jasper performs well on your niche, check out our full Jasper niches study!

Step #1: create a new blog post

The first thing you’re going to do when opening the long-form assistant is to choose a starting point. You can either start from scratch or use the blog post workflow. We’ll choose the second option, as it will allow you to better see Jasper’ full potential.

Step 2: choose starting point conversion.ai

Step #2: set up your blog post

When selecting the blog post workflow, you’ll be guided to answer a few questions about your article. This will let Jasper know what to talk about, how to talk about it, and who to talk to.

Write a blog post about self esteem

As you can see, this is the most important step when setting up the long-form assistant. You get 600 characters to explain to Jasper what you want you blog post to say in the most precise way you can.

An efficient and easy way to talk to Jasper here is to use this model:

Write a blog post about [TOPIC]. Explain how [IDEA_1] and why [IDEA_2]. This blog post is meant for [AUDIENCE].

You can also add up to 3 keywords if you want to focus on SEO. Note that you can also change the language on the top right corner of the screen, and that you will not be able to change this later on.

Once this is done, Jasper will let you select a title and a description. You can either write your own, or let Jasper generate ideas for you based on your input. If you’re not satisfied with the results, you might want to change your input in your content description.

Write a blog post about self esteem step 2
Write a blog post about self esteem step 3

And there you go: you already have a nice title and a great introduction for your blog post –and it only took but a few minutes to get it done.

Here’s the screen you’ll end up with once you hit “start writing”:

Long form assistant self-esteem example

You can see the input you determined in the previous steps on the left of your screen. You can even add a tone of voice for Jasper.

Note that you can change the input on the left anytime you want during your writing. This can prove useful if you want to stir Jasper in another direction, or if you want to add more ideas.

Step #3: determine your blog post outline

Now, having a title and intro is already great and all, but what if you’re not sure what to talk about in your blog post? Or worse: what if you are facing writer’s block?!

Worry not, there’s the perfect feature for you to keep on writing: the Blog Post Outline template.

To use a template while working on the long-form assistant, click the Power Mode button at the top center of your screen:

Modes icons power activated

All the templates on Jasper will appear on the left of your screen. Select the Blog Post Outline, and fill in the required input, as shown below:

As blog post topic, we used the title Jasper generated for us. We simply changed the “6 Ways” into “7 Ways”, as odd numbers are usually related to higher click rates.

We determined the tone of voice as “friendly”, since this blog post is about self-improvement and should sound sweet to our audience.

The outputs from Jasper appear at the bottom of your input. You can ask Jasper to generate up to 15 outputs for each run, and every one of those will be different from the other.

Now you can choose your outline among the suggestions and ideas that Jasper generated, and copy-paste them into your document on the right. Here’s the result:

Blog post outline example

As you can see, we simply selected the first 6 Jasper-generated headlines and added the first next one to get our 7 tips.

Step #4: generate content for your blog post

And now, it’s business time!

Begin by indicating to Jasper that your outlines are going to be titles. Simply select your 7 headlines and click “H2”, as shown below:

Make bullet points as titles

Now you want to add content for your first tip: “start your day with a positive affirmation”.

It’s important to note now that Jasper will read the 600 or so previous characters of your content and base himself on that to generate your copy. This might make him repeat himself.

To avoid this, insert three asterisks below the content you don’t want Jasper to read, like so:

***

At the bottom of your screen, you’ll see that big purple and blue button that says “compose”. Before clicking it, note that you can choose the length of your output between small, medium and large.

Compose button Jarvis

Enough wait: let’s hit it and see what Jasper comes up with!

Output example compose Jarvis

One word: NOICE.

Of course, all the output Jasper will produce will not be as perfect as this one each time; you’ll need to erase some sentences here and there, maybe change a few words along the way.

But still, the majority of the content produced will be on point, and it will take MUCH less time than if you were to write yourself. All you need to do is keep hitting Cmd+J (or Ctrl+J on Windows), adding your asterisks before each headline, and read along as Jasper generates your content for you.

Now that you know how it works, let’s fast-forward to the end of our blog post, and see how to end your article easily and beautifully.

Step #5: write your blog post conclusion

At this point, your article is almost done. And you probably spent about 10-15 minutes to get there! If you want to know what your article would look like at this point, here’s the result so far:

7 Ways to Increase Your Self-Esteem Today

Many of us are trying to improve our lives.

We want to be happier, healthier and more successful in what we do.

Improving your self-esteem is an important part of this process. It can boost confidence, help you achieve goals and make you feel better about yourself every day.

This blog post will explore 7 different ways that you can boost your self-esteem right now so that you start living the life that you want!

***

1. Start your day with a positive affirmation.

Saying things like “I am proud of my body”, “Today is going to be a great day!” or “I am proud of myself and I can accomplish anything that I set out for today!” can help boost your self-esteem and mood even before you start the day.

Affirmations are defined as positive statements about yourself that create belief in your mind, so go ahead and say what only helps prove this definition correct. In order for an affirmation to boost self-esteem it needs to be meaningful and also realistic. When doing this, you can keep in mind all the things that make you a great person and give yourself some credit.

***

2. Get rid of negative thoughts by writing them down and then ripping it up or burning it.

Sometimes when you are in a funk or depressed, it can be difficult to think positively. So the easiest way is to burn your negative thoughts in order to create space for positivity.

Write down all the negative thoughts or feelings about yourself, and then burn the paper after writing each one (write it out in ink). No need to think too hard about what they are either – if you try to make them up on the spot, chances are they will be more believable as opposed to trying to force some natural answer from your mind.

Once you have written out all those bad thoughts subconsciously, rip them into shreds and watch as they go up in flames! This process of writing down negative thoughts and analyzing them allows you to realize that a majority of your thoughts are untrue which boost self-confidence.

***

3. Think about all the things you’re grateful for in life.

Ultimately, gratitude is one of the best ways to improve self-esteem because it changes your perspective on life and makes everything seem better than it really is -even when things are difficult. It helps put things into perspective and view all the opportunities as chances to make a difference instead of what’s expected from us as human beings.

List all the thigs you are grateful for on paper. Beneath it, write about why you’re grateful for what you listed. By doing so, you’re able to boost your mood and release oxytocin, which is a feel-good hormone.

If you’re having a hard time coming up with things to be grateful for, start by thinking about your family and friends. Start from people you interact with often to those whom you rarely see but still appreciate them nonetheless. Your list can also include material items that make you happy such as pets, favorite foods or activities like going out on the weekends.

***

4. Spend time doing something that you enjoy, like cooking.

One surefire way to increase your self esteem is to spend time doing something that you enjoy. Try cooking, reading, painting…whatever floats your boat really! It may sound strange to do an activity for the sake of feeling good about yourself but it actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it.

Think about times in the past when you were happy or excited that maybe even had nothing to do with someone else- could be any number of things, childbirth, finding your favorite shoes at costco after not being able to find them anywhere else, learning how to read music- whatever.

What was happening? Likely it’s because you were focused on what YOU liked and not someone elses wants/needs/opinions that you felt good –and confident.

So, when you do something that makes YOU happy it’s a boost of self esteem and confidence! Try this out today- what can you get done to make yourself feel good for a little while? You might even want to try going on an “I love myself” shopping spree or pampering session. Get yourself a massage, buy some new clothes…or both!

***

5. Stop comparing yourself to others and focus on what makes you happy.

Build your self-esteem by focusing on what you are good at. Constantly comparing yourself to others is only going to make you unhappy.

Appreciate that there are big differences in people, the way they work, their personalities, abilities and responses. If someone is always better than you it doesn’t mean that they are better overall – just better in one thing or another.

Self-esteem is more about building of an identity, of knowing who you are rather than what you do or what others think of you. Taking care of yourself, remembering your strengths and talents will help give you the strength to make difficult life choices without fear of regret. So comparing yourself to others won’t make you feel better – in fact, it’ll definitely make you feel worse. Focus on what makes YOU proud or happy about yourself, and your self-esteem will rise!

***

6. Smile more – even if it’s just for 5 seconds at a time!

One of the quickest ways to boost your self esteem is to simply smile–even if it’s just for five seconds at a time. Smiling has been shown to brighten mood, clear negative thoughts and feelings, and increase feelings of well-being.

Smile formation is via facial muscles, which boosts mood and reduces stress, ven fake smiles can reduce perceived fatigue. Not only do faked smiles give the brain good feelings, but they also work as distractions from felt pain! The act of smiling also creates extra happy hormones like serotonin.

So practice smiling and boost your mood! You’ll be glad you did in the long run.

***

7. Get enough sleep.

Get enough sleep. I can’t stress this enough; it’s one of the most important things you can do to feel good about yourself. It seems like everyone today is effortlessly switching jobs, dating people they meet online, and taking vacations in places they never heard of before.

But sometimes all it takes to boost self esteem is your nightly 8 hours of sleep! When you get enough sleep your brain releases serotonin, which sets conditions for elevated moods and positive emotions that are associated with feeling good about oneself.

So if it feels like life has been kicking you around lately, make sure you’re getting enough sleep at night!

Turn off the TV and get some Zzz’s. You’ll thank yourself in the morning.

Now all you need to do is write your conclusion. And, of course, there’s a special Jasper feature for that: the Blog Post Conclusion Paragraph feature. (Didn’t expect that, did you?)

Same as before, simply go to power mode and select the template you need in the list at the left of your screen.

Blog post conclusion example

As input, we simply used our blog post title and blog post outline that Jasper had just generated for us. You can add a call-to-action and a tone of voice.

And as you can see, even the very first output is absolutely on point and will work perfectly for our blog post.

You now only need to get rid of the asterisks and copy-paste your content into your WordPress or any other service you use for your blogging.

That’s all, folks!

A perfect blog post, with high quality content, ready to publish, baked by Jasper. Full results below:
